There have been times when we are contacted about a bullmastiff or two who need a place to stay ASAP. This could be due to sudden move, loss of job, or a bullmastiff who is not listening to their owners. For many reasons these babies end up needing placed quickly, sometimes even with their AKC paperwork. IF we do not have a litter and if we have space sometimes we keep them temporarily and find them great new homes.
Sometimes these babies have been abused, sometimes they need healthcare. We do rehab some by getting them vet care. Sometimes we properly feed them, if they are underweight due to poor nutrition. Once they are rehabbed they either join our breeding program (If they do not have any hereditary deficiencies and are within bullmastiff standards, or they are adopted out to homes who are carefully screened. They are adopted with contracts to contact us if ever they need to rehome them. Depending on their care while staying with us, their adoption fees vary.
Some have stayed as long as a year and a half in extreme abuse cases. We do not always have room, but we do try and do our best to help this amazing breed. Unfortunately, sometimes they do not receive the nutrition they need, attention they need, or training they need. Not all of the adults who come to us have necessarily been neglected or abused. Sometimes people simply need to rehome fast due to job loss, moves, or what not. In these cases, we sometimes pay an agreed on amount if the bullmastiff has AKC papers.
Care for all of our babies can cost so much that if not for breeding, we could not afford to help other bullmastiffs. We are not your average breeder. We take our babies for walks, we play with them, keep them in air conditioned and heated buildings when the weather calls for it.
